Pressure to perform
Today's blog is going to be about the pressure factor in all sports especially golf and how that can affect you both positively and negatively. There are many factors in golf that can cause you to play badly and lose your focus. What i have found to be very helpful and give me a mental edge is a very simple mind set. Basically i just try to always stay in the middle of my emotions otherwise i try not to let a little mistake destroy my whole round by only focusing on the negative shot. I try to no matter what happens, find a positive thing and only focus on that and let the rest go. This does not mean that i don't get mad or angry, because i think that it is imperative that you release your anger in a helpful and healthy way. Holding in your anger is a good way to end up mad about the last hole when your in the middle of playing your next shot. Which is not a good thing to do, and will cause you to faulter through your round. Another way to play more solid golf is by doing a little thing called practice. I know nobody wants to practice but it is abserd to think that you can go out and practice one day a week for an hour and go out on saturday and shoot a 67 while bombing it down the fairway 300 yards like tiger. You just can't do it and when people get mad about shooting a 85 or 90. I ask them how much they play and how much they practice and usually they tell me they don't practice at all and maybe play twice a week. Well i can gaurantee you if they would switch it to playing once a week and practicing twice a week, they would find that they would enjoy golf more and play twice as good. So when your out on the course and you get a double bogey on the hardest hole, keep it in perspective. If you never practice and you don't have a grooved swing that has taken you years of practice to perfect then you really don't have a reason to be mad. Just enjoy the weather and the outdoors, if you want to do better next time go to your local pro get your moldy money out and do some practicing. Hopefully i enlightened someone with my ramblings, any comments or suggestions on my blog please let me know.
